Brilliant 2003 Russian film. Dir: Andrei Zvyagintzev.
In the remote Russian wilderness, two brothers face a range of new, conflicting emotions when their father, a man they only know through a single photograph, resurfaces.
Considered controversial when it came out in 2002, it tells the story of a young priest (played by Gael Garcia Bernal), who succumbs to temptation and corruption.
Recently watched this French film about society / identity - very pointed, w gentle, sad humour - a bit Mike Leigh-ish? Anyway, very good - a gentle watch. La Vie est une Longue Fleuve Tranquille
