  3. The Prestige, best film I've seen in ages. Heard the book is great but ain't read it yet..

  4. The Return

Brilliant 2003 Russian film. Dir: Andrei Zvyagintzev.

In the remote Russian wilderness, two brothers face a range of new, conflicting emotions when their father, a man they only know through a single photograph, resurfaces.

  5. El Crimen Del Padre Amaro

    Dir: Carlos Carrera

Considered controversial when it came out in 2002, it tells the story of a young priest (played by Gael Garcia Bernal), who succumbs to temptation and corruption.

  6. The consequences of love

    Dir: Paolo Sorrentino

Elegant middle aged man living a solitary life in a Swiss hotel - has dark secret. Beautifully shot and a stately pace.

  7. Recently watched this French film about society / identity - very pointed, w gentle, sad humour - a bit Mike Leigh-ish? Anyway, very good - a gentle watch.
La Vie est une Longue Fleuve Tranquille

  8. The girl with the dragon tattoo.
Just saw the subtitled Swedish version, audience mostly middle aged women duos with the odd docile hubby in tow.

Place went berserk when Salander got her own back.
